Privacy policy
Last updated: April 21st - 2026
At AMANTE ANTWERP BV, your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit our website amanteantwerp.com, create an account, place an order, or interact with us in any other way. It also sets out how we use that data, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and which rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Belgian privacy law.
We believe in transparency. We only collect what we need to run our business and serve you well, we never sell your data to third parties, and you can exercise your privacy rights at any time.
Data Controller
The party responsible for processing your personal data is Ellen D'Hondt, trading under the name AMANTE ANTWERP BV, with registered address at Berkenlaan 8, 2540 Hove, Belgium. Our VAT number is BE1002.436.206. For any privacy-related questions or requests, you can reach us by email at hello@amanteantwerp.com.
What Data We Collect
We collect personal data that you provide to us directly, as well as data that is generated automatically when you use our website.
Data you provide to us includes your first and last name, billing and delivery address, email address, phone number, order history, payment details (processed securely by our payment provider, see section 5), any communication you send us by email or through the contact form, and, if you subscribe, your newsletter preferences.
Data we collect automatically includes your IP address, browser type and version, device type and operating system, referring website, pages visited on our website, time spent on each page, and other analytics data generated through cookies and similar technologies. More information on cookies can be found in our Cookie Policy.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe that a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Why We Process Your Data
We process your personal data for the following purposes, each based on a specific legal ground under the GDPR.
To process and deliver your order, to manage payments, to handle returns and warranty claims, and to provide customer service, we rely on the performance of our contract with you. Without this data, we cannot fulfil your order.
To send you our newsletter and marketing communications, we rely on your consent, which you give by subscribing. You can withdraw this consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any newsletter, or by contacting us directly.
To improve our website, analyse how it is used, prevent fraud, and ensure the technical security of our systems, we rely on our legitimate interest in running a safe and well-functioning online shop. We always weigh this interest against your right to privacy.
To comply with legal obligations, such as tax, accounting, and consumer protection law, we rely on our legal obligations as a Belgian company.
How Long We Keep Your Data
We do not keep your personal data longer than necessary. Order and invoice data is kept for seven years, in line with Belgian tax and accounting law. Account data is kept for as long as your account remains active, and is deleted on request or after a period of prolonged inactivity. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Customer service correspondence is typically kept for up to three years after the last contact, unless a longer retention period is required to handle a dispute or warranty claim. Analytics data is kept in anonymised or aggregated form for as long as it remains useful, in accordance with our Cookie Policy.
Who We Share Your Data With
We never sell your personal data. We only share it with third parties where this is strictly necessary to deliver our service, and always under appropriate data-processing agreements.
The categories of recipients we work with include our payment provider Stripe, which processes your payment securely without sharing full card details with us; shipping carriers such as bpost, DPD, or DHL, which receive the delivery address and contact details needed to deliver your parcel; our webshop platform and IT service providers, which host the website and process data on our behalf; our email and newsletter provider, which stores subscriber data and sends communications on our behalf; our accountant and, where relevant, legal or tax advisors; and, when required by law, public authorities such as tax authorities or law enforcement.
Some of these service providers may be located outside the European Economic Area. Where this is the case, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your data in line with GDPR.
How We Protect Your Data
We take the security of your personal data seriously. Our website uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption to protect data in transit. Payments are processed via Stripe using 3D-Secure authentication, and full card numbers are never stored on our servers. Access to personal data within our organisation is limited to those who need it to perform their work, and all our service providers are contractually bound to apply appropriate security measures.
Despite our efforts, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. In the unlikely event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights, we will notify the Belgian Data Protection Authority and, where required, you directly, in accordance with our legal obligations.
Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have a number of rights regarding your personal data. You have the right to access the data we hold about you and to receive a copy of it. You have the right to rectification if your data is inaccurate or incomplete. You have the right to erasure of your data, also known as the right to be forgotten, where there is no longer a legal or contractual ground for us to keep it. You have the right to restrict processing in certain circumstances, and the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interest, including profiling for marketing purposes. You have the right to data portability, meaning you can request your data in a structured, commonly used format and have it transferred to another provider where technically feasible. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time for processing based on consent, without this affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us by email at hello@amanteantwerp.com. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request, and we will respond within one month.
If you believe we are not handling your data correctly, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données) at Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels, Belgium. More information is available at www.dataprotectionauthority.be.
Newsletter & Marketing
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we use your email address to send you updates about new collections, seasonal lookbooks, subscriber-only offers, and occasional brand news. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link at the bottom of every newsletter, or by contacting us directly. Once you unsubscribe, we remove your email from our active mailing list and no longer use it for marketing purposes.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to ensure it functions properly, to remember your preferences, to analyse traffic, and, with your consent, to deliver relevant marketing. A detailed overview of the cookies we use, their purpose, and how to manage them can be found in our Cookie Policy.
